Courses in leak detection and wire tracing

Practical training in methods for finding leaks, understanding wiring and working safely in water supplies.

At DWI we hold courses in leak detection and wire search for water utilities, contractors, industrial companies and organizations working with critical infrastructure. The courses are based on the same methods and instruments that we use in our daily work in the field.

The teaching takes place, among other things, at our DWI Leak Academy at DTU Science Park in Hørsholm, where theory and practice can be combined in realistic environments.

What participants learn

The course gives participants a practical understanding of how leaks and installations are located in a wiring network.

During the course, participants work on, among other things:

  • methods for coarse and fine localization of leaks
  • use of hand listeners, correlators and loggers
  • wire search on different pipe types
  • tracer gas for precise localization
  • understanding of leakage noise and measurement data
  • introduction to analysis and monitoring of wiring networks

The teaching alternates between review, demonstration and practical exercises.

Courses developed by practitioners

DWI's courses are developed by people who work with leak detection and wire detection on a daily basis.

This means that the training is based on real-life situations from the supply network – not just theory. Participants work with professional equipment and methods that are used in practice.

The courses focus on the methods and work in wiring networks – not on specific products or suppliers.

From fieldwork to technology

The courses at DWI stem from our work in the water sector. Experience from leak detection, pipe detection and operation of supply networks form the basis for the teaching.

At the same time, we work with technology, data analysis and monitoring of pipeline networks. This combination gives participants insight into both classic methods and newer tools for understanding and reducing water loss.

Who are the courses relevant for?

The courses are relevant for organizations and employees who work with water pipes and the operation of pipeline networks.

Typical participants come from:

  • water supplies
  • construction companies
  • industrial companies
  • technicians and operating personnel
  • organizations responsible for critical infrastructure

Special courses and targeted programs

In addition to open courses, DWI offers tailored courses for organizations that want targeted training.

For example, it could be:

  • building internal leak teams
  • training in instruments and methods
  • working with complex installations
  • introduction to monitoring and data analysis

We conduct courses for both Danish and international organizations, including utility companies, authorities, industrial companies and partners in major projects.

Content and level are adapted to the individual organization.

Practical information

The courses are typically conducted as a 1-day course with a combination of theory and practical work.

They can be held at our facilities in Hørsholm or at the organization that wants a targeted course.

The courses combine theory with practical exercises in the use of equipment and methods.

Yes. We often adapt courses to the organization's own installations and needs.

The teaching is provided by people who work with leak detection and wire detection in practice.
