PWG II – Pulse generator

Effective cable search on plastic cables and other non-metallic pipes

The PWG II (Pulse Wave Generator) is designed for fast and accurate location of water pipes in conditions where traditional pipe locators cannot be used. The system enables the detection of plastic pipes, PE pipes and other non-metallic pipes without tracer wire or embedded metal parts.

Using acoustic pulses sent through the water pipe, the pipe's route can be traced directly from the ground with a geophone or ground microphone. The system is particularly suitable for documenting unknown pipe routes, checking existing GIS data and locating pipes before excavation.

How PWG II works

The PWG II is mounted directly to a hydrant, valve or internal installation via a quick-connect fitting. When activated, the system generates a series of acoustic pulses that propagate through the water and further along the pipe.

The pulses are recorded on the ground surface using a geophone or FAST Aqua M-series listening equipment. By following the strength of the signal, the operator can quickly and accurately map the route of the line.

Developed for difficult wiring routes

PWG II is particularly effective at:

• PE wires

• PVC wires

• Non-metallic water pipes

• Unknown wiring routes

• Incomplete or outdated GIS data

• Power cords and supply lines

The system can be used without interruption of the supply and only requires an operating pressure of approximately 2 bar to function.

Up to 600 meters range

Under good conditions, the PWG II can trace cable runs of up to 600 meters from a single connection point, making the system particularly useful for mapping long plastic cables where traditional electromagnetic search methods are not possible.
